My birthday was March 10th which was a Sunday and the first weekend of Spring Break for us. I realize I'm late posting this, and I apologize, but I just had to share some of the weekend festivities with you.
We decided to go to Dallas for the weekend. Mostly because they were having the Dallas Quilt Guild Quilt show which I had never been to but just couldn't pass up. And also because we like going on mini vaca trips to Dallas. We usually go several times a year sometimes to see a Rangers game or some other specific reason but mostly just to hang out. It's only about 2 hours away from our house and for some reason, my son loves staying in hotels.
So here are some pics of our weekend.
My present opening. (a very blurry picture of me and my new "jugs".)
My husband and son each got me a Fiesta ware pitcher. One was lime green and the other was turquoise. My 2 favorite colors. I've been wanting to start collecting them and now I have :) I already had an orange one. I also have 3 antique pitchers that are not Fiesta but I love them just the same. We have a large Fiesta ware "collection". And by collection, I mean we use them for our everyday dishes. Have for years.
My son took this picture. He took about 6 of me and my hubby and they were all just as blurry. Great.
Me and my son.
The Dallas Quilt Show was awesome. Not as big as the Houston Quilt show of course but it was much larger than our local quilt show (which is growing every year btw).
I don't have the names of the people who made these quilts. I just took pics of ones I liked. There were so many and so many that I liked but of course my battery started going dead about half way through.
This one was in the modern quilting section and I thought it was sooo cool.
We had my bday dinner at this little funky restaurant on Greenville called Daddy Jacks. I didn't want to go to a chain restaurant with their frozen crappy food that they just thaw and serve. Daddy Jacks was wonderful. The freshest seafood I have tasted this far inland. I highly recommend it - but it's tiny so if you go, get a reservation.
Instead of a cake, we got cupcakes at Society Bakery also on Greenville. Their "plain cupcakes" like chocolate was just okay. Your regular old cupcake. But where they excel is with their fun flavors. My hubby bought Pecan Praline and let me have a bite. I thought I would die, it was so good. My son got Oreo but didn't let me have a bite. And I got Italian crème which was as good as the Italian crème cake I make which is awesome. We will definitely be going back.
We also went to the Krispy Kreme and bought a whole box of doughnuts which we ate for breakfast. Calories you eat on your b-day don't count though - right?
We had a great time and I love my hubby and son for giving me such a fun birthday weekend.
And now for pics of my quilt show loot. Ahhh shopping, the best part.

Happy Birthday to Me
This past Saturday, March 10th was my 107th birthday. At least, that's how old I feel.
My sweet family helped me celebrate.
My giant son (who's playing baseball in middle school!! I'm so proud of him!!)
Here are pics of my loot.
My hubby bought me some tulips - which are 1 of my 2 favorite flowers. I put them in a low vase that would let them droop. My hubby hates that. So he tied them up with some ribbon from my presents. Now they look like they're in bondage. :)
My cake - from a local bakery Chez Bazan - it's yummy AND pretty.
Who put all those stupid candles on my cake? I wasn't too happy about those.
Anyhoo, the weather was rainy and stormy all day but I appreciate my family helping me to celebrate. We saved my birthday dinner until yesterday when the weather had cleared up. Now, we're having warm temps with some wind and sunny/overcast skies. Time for some yard work!
On a crafting level, I've ordered some fun new fabric (my addiction is getting worse) and I've completed 3 more half aprons which I will start listing today. I'm cutting out 4 more aprons with the fun new fabric and hope to start working on them today. What are you crafting on today?

Happy Birthday to me! and a sale!
Today is my birthday! Yay!
I'm not going to say which one though. I think once we hit 35, we should be able to subtract the years instead of adding the years. So, going by that theory, I'm 27. :)
To celebrate my birthday, I'm having a sale in my etsy shop - Handmade Whimzy.
Get 10% off all items by using the coupon code - birthday1.
Discount will also apply to the already marked down hair accessories and scented sachets.
I'm planning to run this sale through Saturday. So, Happy Shopping and Happy Birthday to ME!

What have I been doing?
What in the world have I been doing for this past week that I didn't make any blog posts?
I have no idea but I was busy the whole time.
My son's 12th birthday was yesterday. :(
He's growing up so fast. He's at least a foot taller than all the boys in his class and his voice is changing and getting so deep. This morning he said something to me from the other room and I thought it was my husband talking. He's as tall as me and is wearing men's size clothes. So sad. Where did all the time go?
I remember pushing him in the buggy at Target while he ate goldfish crackers and left a trail of crumbs all over the store. Now, I think he could push me in the buggy.
So anyhow, I spent last week shopping for gifts and getting ready for his Birthday party sleepover that was this past Friday night. He didn't want me to decorate or do anything that was 'kiddish', so I didn't even buy party plates or anything. They just ate their plain cake on our regular kitchen dishes. Other than the cake, I don't have any pictures of his actual party because I don't like to post other people's kids pics online.

Oh well, he and his friends seemed to have fun anyway. I hope he had a great birthday. Only 4 more birthdays and I guess we'll have to get him a car - so that he can drive away from his mother (sob). I'm so sad now.
Here's my baby with his fat dog, Mac. Bless his heart, I think we need to strap him to a treadmill.
Here's my little family.
And here's my baby with his grandparents.
And now back to sewing. I have a craft show coming up in November, so I'd better get my rump in gear.

My Birthday
My birthday was this month, on the 10th. It just happened to fall during spring break so my son and hubby were both at home because hubby took vacation time. They made me breakfast in bed - although I'm sure my Dh did most of the work. But anyway, I still got french toast and bacon. YUMMMM! And then later, they took me out to eat for dinner and when we came home, we got to eat the Italian Creme Cake that Dh made for me. It was yummy good.
Here is a picture.
Pay no attention to the number on top. That is obviously wrong as I'm really only 24. Someone must have been making a sick joke. ;) That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

And the lovely roses that they brought home for me. My son says he picked the color. It was a good birthday. (except for the getting older part)
As far as a birthday present, my DH didn't exactly get me one. Instead he said he would give me money to put towards the sewing machine I want and need. I was very excited about that as at the time, I was looking forward to the Arts and Crafts show I was scheduled to do on the 20-21st (this past weekend). I always do really well at this particular show, so I just knew I would have a huge pile of money to use for my new sewing machine. So, of course I started looking them up on the internet and dreaming about one that does fancy embroidery, etc.
But alas, I didn't go to the show because, why? why? IT SNOWED!!!! AGAIN!!! Can you believe it? All day Saturday the temperature steadily dropped and it rained ALL DAY and then Sunday, it snowed ALL DAY!
Will this winter never end????????
The Parks Dept. that sponsors the show does not give refunds or anything for bad weather but they are going to try to reschedule it. I don't know if it will be worth it though. The Azalea Trails brings in alot of tourists and lookers who all stop at the Arts and Crafts festival in the park but withough that, I think it would be pretty dead.
So, :( to my new sewing machine. I've just been listing things like crazy on etsy but I think I'm going to be stuck with my basic old sewing machine that only sews when it wants to, for awhile. Sigh.

My Birthday - last week
Last Tuesday, March 10th, while my family and I were on vacation, we celebrated my birthday. My (cough, cough) 29th birthday - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Anyway, the nice and really excellent housekeeping staff in the Disneyland Hotel left me this cute "cake" made out of towels and this sweet card with a signed pic of Mickey and Minnie. Thanks so much Disneyland Hotel staff - we enjoyed our stay! They also gave me a birthday pin and I wore it all day while at Disneyland. About a million people told me Happy Birthday. It was a little weird.
My own sweet hubby and son gave me these two cards and played a trick on me at the same time. They gave me a gift card to my least favorite store in the world (in fact I hate it) - Walmart. I just stood there looking at it and not knowing what to say. They know how I feel about that aweful place.
Then they said, "just kidding, that one's empty and your real gift is at home". So, I didn't strangle them that day.
My son took my pic in front of this Disney Celebrate sign. Can you tell I have about three sweaters on. I was freezing. When is it ever warm in California? I've been there 3 times and we can't seem to hit a warm month. The temps ranged from 40's to 60's but as soon as the sun started to go down, the temps just plunged. So it was semi-warm for only about 4 hours each afternoon. And there were people in the POOL! Can you believe it? I told my Dh that they were probably from Canada or were in that Polar Bear club.
