Best big, fat, chewy chocolate chip cookies!

My DS, Ben, helped me make these cookies last weekend.  He's really getting pretty good at measuring and mixing.

I found this recipe in my Allrecipes.com Easy Everyday Favorites cookbook.  I just have to say, I've tried many chocolate chip cookie recipes, but this is by far the best I've ever tried.  They really are big, fat cookies.  They stay fat even after you cook them.  Some cookies seem to cook flat and crispy, no matter how big you make them.  But these are great!

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

1.Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
2.Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
3.In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
4.Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

We added M&M's to them too - because everything's better with M&M's, right?

  1. Um, yes. Everything IS better with M&Ms.

Your son did a fabulous job! I'm about to ask our resident baker (one of my teens) to bake a batch of these. Isn't it nice when our kids learn to bake and cook?

  2. I made these cookies tonight and they were delicious! I didn't have enough chocolate chips though so I used some white chocolate ones and peanut butter ones to get all 2 cups worth :)

    Thanks for the recipe!

Thanks so much for reading my blog and leaving a comment. I read every comment and try to reply to most of them although it may take me a couple of days - I'm a bit slow.
