Robyn's Valentine - An Art Quilt Project

Back in April, I made a blog post about My Psychedelic Valentine which was a Valentine themed table runner I made for a challenge in my Modern Quilting Group.

I know it's pretty far from February now but I wanted to show you my friend Robyn's Valentine challenge project.  I loved it so much that she gave it to me for my birthday present - which was in March.

Robyn is an art quilter.  She has been quilting for years and I think she has tried just about every kind of quilting there is so it stands to reason that she would eventually find her way to art quilting.  I think she's found her niche.

She made this Valentine mostly with selvedge edges plus a few scraps and some red rick rack.  I love the way she basically made a color wheel with all the colors and then used the red in the middle.  I think this is so creative and cool.

I'm going to try to talk her into entering it in our local quilt show in the spring.
Robyn blogs HERE at Quilting in the Robyn's nest.  She is remodeling her house right now and she is doing weekly updates which are awesome.  If you love looking at reno's as they go along, you will love reading her blog.

Pretty Flowers

Egads, I can't believe it's been over a week since I blogged.
Last week was one of those weeks where you're really busy and the week goes by really fast but then, when it's over, you have no idea what you did.   Whatever I did, I was only able to finish and list one new apron in my shop.

But this week will be better, surely.  After all, it started off with a day for love.

Here are some pretty flowers that I got from my sweet baboo.
After years of me saying that red roses are generic, he finally listened to me and bought me pink tulips.  He's a sweetie.
Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Fabric for next 2 skirts and roses

Here's the fabric for the next two skirts I'm making. I'm mostly finished with the one made out of the pink fabric on bottom. I plan to finish it today and start the black one. I bought some really cute dotty ribbon to make the drawstring for the black skirt.

And, here's a pic of the beautiful roses my DH got me for Valentine's day. Thanks, babe!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day Treats

I love sweets!!! If I could, I would just eat sweets all the time. So when holidays roll around, it gives me a good excuse to make something sweet.
I made these yummy treats yesterday as treats for a couple of friends and my family. They are sooo easy - the perfect little project for your kids to help you with. Yummy White Chocolate Covered OREOS with red sprinkles.

Here's the recipe:
1 cup of white or chocolate morsels
1 tbsp. veggie shortening
A bag of Oreos.

Melt the morsels and shortening in the microwave slowly. I set it for about 20 seconds each time, then take them out and stir. Once they're all melted, just dunk the cookies in one at a time. Have wax paper ready on a cookie sheet to put the covered cookie on. I roll mine around in the chocolate with short tongs, then lift out. Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles to decorate.
Once I'm done with all the cookies, I slip the wax paper covered cookie tray into the refrigerator so they will harden.

Then all you have to do is eat them! YUMM!!

They look so pretty in little treat bags to give to friends, teachers, kid's treats, or just to eat all by yourself.

Happy Valentine's Day!!
