WIP Wednesday - The back of Charlie Brown

I'm am still working on my husbands Charlie Brown Christmas quilt.  I have the front completed and yesterday started working on the back.
I have a plan for it which is half the battle.  I want to try and get it finished, basted and quilted this week so I will be done.

I had found some other Charlie Brown fabric that seemed to go with the panel and my husband wanted me to use it so it's going on the back.

I was going along really well yesterday until my bobbin ran out and then I stopped to eat lunch.  That's when all my energy drained right out and I had to stop.  I did work on my new English Paper Piecing project though.  I'll tell you more about that when I have more to show.

Thanks so much for reading my blog!  I hope you all have a blessed day.

August Goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes

Hello friends in the blogging world!  I seem to have been missing for the past 3 months.  I'll be telling you why in a future blog post but for today I wanted to post my August goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes.

I haven't participated in ALYOF for several months - I'm so behind on everything.  But I'm determined to do better and to catch myself up.

This month I have started working on a Christmas quilt for my husband.  It will be wall hanging size and will hang in his office at work.  He loves to decorate his office for the holidays and he's been waiting patiently for this quilt for about 2 years now.  It's a Peanuts quilt and it represents the Peanuts Christmas Special - A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I can't remember where I got this panel of squares but I've had it for some time and worked on it on and off.  For the longest time, I couldn't figure out what to do with it.  So I cut out each rectangle and then framed each one with red and green fabric.  It sat on my design wall for some time after that.

I got it back out this past weekend and decided to do strips with the fabrics I had already cut up and just frame each one with white then sew the strip to a panel.  I've gotten about half of the top done.  So my goal this month is to finish the quilt top.  I would also like to get it basted and maybe start quilting it but I'm going to stick with just finishing the top for my goal.
If I make my goal too lofty, I won't finish for sure :)
This is the part I have finished:

WIP Wednesday - A Charlie Brown Christmas

My WIP this week is the Charlie Brown guilt I'm working on for my husband.  I bought the Charlie Brown Christmas Story as a panel from fabric.com (I think).  You can also get the Halloween episode.
Anyway, my husband loves Charlie Brown and since he decorates his office form Halloween, Christmas, etc, I showed him this panel and asked him if he wanted me to make it into a quilt for his office wall.  He was very enthusiastic.

When I got my panel, it had been cut wrong.  The end of the story was at the top and the beginning in the middle, etc.  So I had to cut all the blocks apart.

Here is what I have so far:
I've used solids and prints to outline each block.  The solid green is Kona Kiwi and the solid red is Kona Poppy Red.

"My own dog, gone commercial!"
"This little tree needs me."

  "I killed it!"

"Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!  Hark, the Herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King!"

This is going to be simple.  I plan to use white sashing to connect all the squares.  I'd like to spell out "Christmas time is here" at the top in paper pieced letters.  I know Kelbysews has some that she sells on etsy and I think that's the way I'm going to go.  It won't be the same font but that's ok.

Then the top will be finished and the back will be simple.  I have some fat quarters of this fabric and I'll probably just put them together with the solid fabric.

I hope you've enjoyed my WIP.  Thanks for reading!
